Regulations
This call is open to composers of contemporary art music who are aged 30 years or younger and who reside in Belgium (Belgian citizenship is not required). This call welcomes explicitely European but also non-European composers living and working in Belgium.
Each applicant must submit a full application form in Dutch, French or English:
- biography
- list of previous works
- appropriate letter outlining motivation
- a photo of him or herself
- contact details
- audio sample
Deadline for submission 15 June 2011.
The selection committee with respresentatives of the BL!NDMAN ensemble, Flanders Festival Brussels, Klara and Musiq3 will select the applicant who best meets the requirements. Applicants who fulfil the criteria will have their names, photos, biographies, audio samples and letters published online and be given an opportunity to answer questions and interact through a blog.
From this pool of candidates, the selection committee will choose ten finalists whose names will be announced 30 June 2011.
Following an interview broadcast on the radio, one composer will be chosen from the finalists and the results will be made public on 9 September 2011.
Flanders Festival Brussels will award the successful finalist a commission and €2500.
This successful finalist's composition will be played in at least 5 European festivals by local musicians and subsequently broadcasted by over 30 radio stations across the EU. In addition, audio samples will be distributed through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
